About this event
One of the wonderful things about wine is how it changes with time. Reds which at two or three years old seemed brutal and oaky, and whites that appeared angular and acidic can often mellow into something more satisfying.
Alas, space, economics and will-power all mean that most of us aren’t able to keep ageworthy bottles until they’re at their peak, but the good news is that we’ve managed to keep our hands off a few of them from 2016, a vintage that shone in many parts of the world. In celebration of their 10th birthday, we thought it time to crack open a selection of them for your attention.
Here’s a provisional running order so you can see the calibre of what we’ll be trying – this might be tweaked according to demand, as there are some wines that we only have one bottle of:
Champagne Alfred Gratien Cuvée Paradis Brut 2016
Gustave Lorentz Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim 2016
Francois Lamarche Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2016
A southern hemisphere 2016 Pinot Noir
Château Andron Blanquet Saint-Estèphe 2016
Chateau Moulinet Pomerol 2016
Vajra Barolo 2016
Krohn Vintage Port 2016 (made when Krohn was part of the Taylor Fladgate stable)
