Fine Wine Friday – Bodega Casa Lebai, Ribera del Duero

On the last Friday of each month throughout 2026, we open some of our favourite and finest bottles to taste. For November, we are delighted to be pouring a layered and hearty Tinto Fino blend. Bodega Casa Lebai is the small-production project of brothers Rodrigo and Asier Calvo, focused on expressive, site-driven wines from old vines in Ribera del Duero, recognised as a First Growth in Tim Atkin MW’s classification. The brothers are the second generation of the Calvo family of Bodegas Arrocal in Gumiel de Mercado, and the project works with carefully selected old-vine parcels across the region, producing limited quantities that highlight the character of Ribera del Duero. Bodega Casa Lebai El Portillo: Whole clusters are hand-harvested from 90-year-old vines and gently foot-trodden in French oak vats and fermented with native yeasts. Following 3–4 days of maceration, they are pressed and finish fermentation, including malolactic, in oak vats. Aged for a year in used French foudres to add spice, depth and body.
