About this event
A Wee Varietal: Touriga Nacional One grape, many expressions, remarkable range
For this Wee Focus, we're celebrating Touriga Nacional—Portugal's most celebrated red grape and the backbone of the world's great Port wines. From the terraced schist vineyards of the Douro to the granite soils of Dão, it's a grape that delivers deep colour, heady aromatics, and serious structure, while increasingly finding new voices beyond Portugal's borders.
We'll be tasting four very different expressions, including one that might just challenge everything you think you know about the grape—from a bold, structured Douro red to a more perfumed Dão, plus an unexpected international take and a mystery fourth we're keeping under wraps.
Expect violets and blackcurrant, firm tannin, savoury spice, and—depending on the bottle—a touch of that rich, fortified Port character Touriga Nacional is famous for.
As always, this will be a relaxed, approachable tasting, complete with cheeseboards. Perfect for anyone curious about one of the world's most under-appreciated grapes—or simply looking for a thought-provoking way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
